What We Do to Make Your Lawn the Envy of the Neighborhood

Moisture Management:

Our secret moisture management system helps distribute water throughout your lawn. This allows wet areas to push water to dry areas, eliminating soggy or dry patches. Appropriate water distribution helps root health and improves grass color and fullness.

Nutrient Management:

Our approach to fertilization is holistic. This means we apply the appropriate nutrients at the optimum time of the year. We use more nitrogen in the Fall because it helps grass build robust roots. We also include potassium to strengthen cell walls.

Management is a long-term effort and the timing of the delivery of nutrients is crucial. During the springtime, we apply a slow-release fertilizer that stays active through the growing season and provides a quick green-up.

As temperatures warm we switch from granular fertilizer to foliar feeding. Because the plant’s metabolism changes, applying nutrients to the leaves is more effective. Foliar-based feeding allows nutrients to be absorbed through the plant’s stomata. This process also helps ensure plants receive just the right amount of nutrients which helps keep cool-season grass green.

As Summer transitions to Fall and root development becomes important, we add more nitrogen, around two pounds or half of our total nitrogen for the year. Our first fall application is a rounded fertilizer with micro-nutrients that help stimulate overall health.

The last application of the year is a quick release of high-nitrogen fertilizer. Quick-release fertilizer ensures that all the nitrogen is absorbed by the grass and put into the roots before it enters winter mode. Leftover nitrogen in the soil can increase fungal growth.

Feeding in the fall is the best time to gain a more drought-resistant and greener grass the following year.

Iron & Micronutrients:

Our treatments are carefully mixed to contain nutrients and appropriate additives for better absorption.

Timed Herbicide Treatments:

We carefully monitor soil temperatures and weed populations in the Albuquerque area to ensure that our herbicides go on when they are most effective. However, the best weed control is a healthy lawn that out-competes weeds. We focus on your lawn’s overall health more than spraying.

Cultural Practices:

Our herbicide program helps a lawn reach peak condition through the cultural practice of limiting herbicide application to when it is seasonally appropriate.
The fuller a lawn the less weed pressure because there is no space for weeds to grow. So, your grass should be cut to the proper height and mowed consistently. Good cultural practices include keeping the grass to a 3” summer length and keeping mower blades clean and sharp.

Pre-Emergent:

This application prevents weeds from germinating in the early spring. Additional applications may be required. It’s one of the best defenses against grassy weeds that can be difficult to control once established.

Blanket Post-Emergent Treatment

The application is timed for maximum impact. Commonly, mid-spring after any seeds that made it through our pre-emergent barrier have germinated. An additional blanket in late summer or early fall may be needed, depending upon the severity of the weed season.

Spot Post-Emergent Treatment:

This is our tool to target weeds throughout the growing season in a surgical manner. A blend of treatments including fertilizer, that will eliminate weeds while stimulating growth.
Post treatments can be hard on the grass, but our blend allows us to repair damage while still delivering enough concentration to be effective. Ultimately spot treatment keeps herbicide use to a minimum.

Insecticide:

Our preventative insecticide stops grubs and other insects from hatching. It also has a higher success rate than contact insecticides.
Absorbing into the grass, it only targets insects that will damage the grass. This promotes ecosystem diversity and an active biosphere around your plants.

Spring application allows for the chemical to be absorbed into the grass at the ideal time (peak egg hatch) to have maximum efficacy at eliminating grub, chinch bug, and sod webworm infestations.
